Thanksgiving

In the United States, we have a tradition: it's called, "Thanksgiving."  It commemorates, a time, when we, all Americans, were immigrants, and the natives, the "real Americans," helped us, to survive, instead of, hindering us.  Our population, would have died, as we were not prepared, for the cold weather, and the winter, when we came over, from Europe.  However, the natives, such as the man who came to be known as "Squanto," helped us through the winter.  Squanto, who was a native, had every reason, not to trust, Europeans.  Formerly, he had served as a slave, under European leadership.  He was now, a free man, and chose to put aside, his misgivings, and instead, to embrace those, who needed help.  I want to pray:  Jesus, thank you for Squanto.  He led the first Puritans, who came over from Europe, to live, instead of allowing them to die.  He put aside, his misgivings, and embraced the foreigners, or "strangers," as we are taught to do, in the Bible.  (Matthew 25:34-35)  We were strangers, and he welcomed us.  This is the code, or ethic, of God.  If a man, who knew only hatred, from us, could choose, freely, to forgive us, "strangers," surely, we can forgive the poor, and the strangers in our land, who have not hated us, nor given us as slaves.  Surely, we can forgive them, and give them food, and clothing, as Jesus commands, in His Bible.  We give thanks, for our existence today, which was due to the kindness, of strangers.

Please pray about this, and think about how you can help the poor ones, who do not have clothing, food, or places to stay, on this Thansgiving.  God Bless you all.
