Our service to our country is defined by what we have done, what we are doing, and what we will do in the future. There are some in the country who don't like the Army anymore, because of its policies, which are in accordance with the president's wishes. In a way, they are disagreeing with the president, or saying that he doesn't have "command" of the Army, when they are saying the Army doesn't have to do what he says. Those in Congress are blockading the military's paychecks and promotions for supporting their commander in chief's *lawful* and *legal* orders.
There is not an option for a military member to disobey, if the order is legal and lawful. As long as this blockade on paychecks and promotions stands, those in Congress enacting it are unjustly causing strife amidst the ranks of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. It is simple enough to say that they can't, and aren't allowed to pick and choose what orders they receive and don't receive. According to the checks and balances established in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other government documents that establish justice and order in the country, the President controls the actions of the military, so long as it does not violate the Constitution's Amendments. It does not violate the Constitution's Amendments to welcome underrepresented members of our society into the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, without prejudice.
I feel that because of this, the Congress is making a "power grab." They are trying to unlawfully steal influence over the military from the president, to whom it rightfully belongs. The articles of the Constitution clearly state that the President, not the Congress, has full authorization over the military. I cannot fathom what is in the minds of those people who want to wrest control of the military, against the Constitution, from the President. I just wanted to express my feelings today. I hope you consider these words. Thank you.
